Note: I DO know that it's about 12 hours early for a new song (or at least nearly 2).
There are not words...none, to adequately describe how I felt upon hearing Michael Jackson was dead. I mean, celebrity deaths is kind of a hobby of mine, if you can call it that. This was shaping up to be a busy week, what with Ed McMahon, and this morning's passing of Farrah Fawcett. These weren't terribly shocking. Most everyone KNEW Farrah Fawcett was on death's door, not to offend anyone, but it was not so much of a surprise. Ed McMahon was 86, and life expectancy is something like 68, so while upsetting, it could be expected.
Michael Jackson, however, was 50 and poised for a comeback. There's no earthly reason to think it wasn't in him. I'll admit, I'm partial to his early work, but who says what could have been? Then you have the sex scandals. Honestly...who cares? Does that effect the quality of his work? NO. I'm not condoning pedophilia, in fact, it's disgusting, but he was NOT convicted. He was convicted of being odd, but nothing more. He was flamboyant, he was...magnificent. I remember being a kid and listening to the Thriller cassette over and over, and how many times have I tried to do the Moonwalk? Not that I'm any good, but the point is, the man made an impact on my life, one I could never forget.
I was in such a state of shock, I CALLED MY FATHER! Celebrity deaths are one of the things we uh..."bond" over. He was also the man who introduced me to him. I also remember the first time I was truly terrified. I was about two and a half and I saw the video for Thriller...I picked up a box of Twinkies and ran to my closet and hid. Anyway, without much more adeiu, I give you one of my favorite Michael Jackson songs...and just remember, if you see someone with one glove, think of him.

@abilene_piper_lg - Eh, I try not to let the allegations get to me. It doesn't change his performing abilities or anything in my mind, and fact of the matter is, nobody but he and the alleged victims know what went on.
